I view therapy as an invitation of personal exploration, emotional growth and nourishing interpersonal relationships. This begins in a collaborative, trusting therapeutic environment. Together we will observe how the unfolding of your life has created meaning, purpose, joys, sorrows, struggles, concerns and symptoms which may have brought you here today.
I believe in the amazing capacity of humans to grow, heal, accept, love, grieve, forgive, and to learn from life experiences. Therefore, therapy focuses on emotional and character transformation, identification and expression of emotions, healing of the self-care and regulatory capacities, in addition to behavioral symptom relief.
During the course of therapy, we will draw on various psychological approaches according, in part, to the problem that is being treated and assessment of what will best benefit you. These approaches include psychodynamic, play therapy, DBT, Mindfulness, system/family, developmental (adult, child, family), & psycho-educational. I have extensive training in Trauma and Attachment theories for both adults and children, utilizing several modalities including talk, play, sand tray, and art therapies.
